Abstract
On pages 242-250 of his second notebook, Ramanujan records modular equations of composite degrees. All these have been proved by B. C. Berndt using either the method of parametrization or the theory of modular forms. In this paper, we establish several new U - V modular equations of composite degrees using eta-function identities by the method familiar to Ramanujan. We also establish several new general formulas to compute Ramanujan - Weber class invariants gn and Gn.
